FedEx provides customers and businesses worldwide with a variety of transportation, e-commerce and business services. Offering fast and reliable delivery to more than 220 countries and territories, FedEx is consistently ranked among the world’s most admired and trusted employers.
FedEx was the official carrier of the Lindt Big Egg Hunt in 2013. Responsible for transporting each of the 101 eggs to the five city locations across the UK, FedEx provided two double decker artic vehicles to guarantee the safe arrival of this unusual and particularly precious cargo. Newly introduced to the FedEx fleet, these vehicles are 13.6m long and use the latest transportation technology.
Travelling between Covent Garden, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Glasgow, before later returning the eggs to London, three FedEx drivers transported them an astonishing 2,500 miles in total. Returning in time for the Easter weekend, the FedEx vehicles transported a wide variety of shipments and as a result were a perfect partner.
In addition to being the official carrier, FedEx conducted its own fundraising initiative. Using a smaller FedEx branded egg to raise money internally to support this worthwhile charity, it sent the egg from depot to depot for FedEx staff to guess the mileage once its journey is complete.
FedEx has supported Action for Children for three years in the UK. As part of its annual FedEx Cares Week, a popular volunteering initiative with employees, FedEx aims to give a little something back to communities, whilst making a difference to people’s lives. FedEx volunteers support projects including painting child friendly spaces in children’s centres, participating in marathons and bake sales.
As the official carrier of The Lindt Big Egg Hunt, FedEx is increasing its donation through this charitable drive – testament to the generous spirit of its employees. For more information, please visit www.fedex.com/gb
