Grimaldi by Sam Taylor-Johnson (formerly Taylor-Wood) | The Big Egg Hunt

In 2008, Sam Taylor-Johnson directed the BAFTA and Palme d’Or nominated, Sundance Film Festival winning short film LOVE YOU MORE, written by Patrick Marber and produced by Anthony Minghella. Her directorial feature film debut came in 2009 with the critically acclaimed NOWHERE BOY, a film based on the childhood experiences of The Beatles songwriter and singer John Lennon, starring Aaron Johnson, Anne-Marie Duff and Kristen Scott Thomas. NOWHERE BOY was nominated for 4 BAFTAs including Best British Film and Outstanding Debut for Sam’s direction. In addition, Sam continues to direct commercials and music videos for worldwide brands and international artists, including the highly celebrated music video for R.E.M’s “ÜBerlin”, featuring leading actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Originally a sculptor, she began working in photography, film, and video in the early 1990s. Sam has had numerous group and solo exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale (1997), where she won the Illy Café Prize for Most Promising Young Artist. She has also been nominated for The Turner Prize in 1998. Solo exhibitions include Kunsthalle Zurich (1997), Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebaek (1997), Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington DC (1999), Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid (2000), a retrospective of her work at the Hayward Gallery, London (2002), State Russian Museum, St Petersburg (2004), MCA, Moscow (2004), BALTIC, Gateshead (2006), MCA Sydney (2006), MoCA Cleveland (2008) and the Contemporary Art Museum, Houston (2008). In 2011 she was made an Order of the British Empire (OBE).

Developing themes and imagery that celebrate the everyday, James Joyce’s practice looks to transform the seemingly commonplace into striking compositions employing bright, iconic forms and offbeat messages. With a process rooted in drawing and printmaking, he works across a range of media.
As a result of his exploration of imagery Joyce has garnered an international following of collectors, and he is often invited to collaborate with brands to create bespoke and exclusive signature products.
Joyce’s work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, magazines and books.

Susie Hogarth is an artist, illustrator and writer living and working in London.
Inspired by the forced formality of historical and military portraiture, the celebratory spirit of surface pattern and the graphic wit of Polish cinema posters, she makes imagined portraits of charismatic and complicated women and men with serious faces, sad souls and interesting hands.
Regularly undertaking commercial and private commissions, she has recently launched a collection of illustrated ceramics under the name, ‘Industry & Idleness’.

Tim Ellis was born in Chester. He studied at Liverpool John Moores and the Royal Academy Schools. His solo exhibitions include: ‘In The Company We Trust’, Horatio Junior, London 2012, ‘Sons of Pioneers’ Furini Contemporary, Rome 2011, ‘The Tourist’ Spacex Exeter 2011 and ‘A Foundation for Exchange’, Primopiano Lugano, Switzerland 2010. Selected group exhibitions include ‘Secret Societies’, The Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt, Germany and the CAPC, Bordeaux, France and ‘John Moores Painting Prize 26′, The Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool 2010. He lives and works in London.

Sophia by Natasha Mann | The Big Egg Hunt

Natasha Mann is an artist specialising in traditional Moroccan painting known as zouaq. Born in London, she developed an interest in North Africa and Islamic art after travelling to the region as a child. As part of her degree she spent a year living in Fes, the capital of traditional arts in Morocco, where she undertook a ten-month apprenticeship with a local master craftsman in traditional Moroccan zouaq. Natasha is a QEST scholar and is currently studying for an MA at the Prince’s School of Traditional Arts.

Jack Brindley is an emerging young artist living and working in London. Currently studying Painting at the Royal College of Art, Jack’s body of work spans painting, sculpture, photography and print. Interested in the construction of visual and verbal languages, his work explores how expression is generated in relation to its position in society and culture.
His group exhibitions in 2012 included ‘Bloomberg New Contemporaries’, ICA London and Liverpool, and ‘Dromology’, South Square Gallery, Bradford. In 2011 he was awarded a residency by the Architectural Foundation at the South Kilburn Studios.

Jo Lynn has a degree in Fashion Design and a degree in Fine Art from Wimbledon College of Art.
Having an immense and unending interest in the human form, people clothed or unclothed, her works are in a figurative vein; usually nude oil paintings. They stem from a direct observation from nature forming the landscape of the human body.

Razzle Dazzle Egg 13 by Billy Childish | The Big Egg Hunt

Aged 16, Billy Childish worked at the local dockyard in Chatham as an apprentice stonemason. Denied an interview for the local art school, he produced hundreds of drawings that gained him entry to Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design. However, his defiance of authority and his insistence on integrity led to his eventual expulsion. Then began his artistic, literary and musical odyssey.
Billy Childish has a cult status worldwide, with solo and group exhibitions internationally, including New York, London, Seoul and Berlin. In 2011 he became Artist in Residence at the Chatham Historic Dockyard where he currently works.
