Eggs in the City by Lindsey Spinks | The Big Egg Hunt

Lindsey Spinks is an illustrator based in London. Since graduating with a degree in Illustration from Kingston University, Lindsey’s work has appeared in newspapers, magazines and on packaging and various other products.
The process Lindsey uses always begins with a hand drawn line. Her medium of choice, a mechanical pencil, allows Lindsey to create work that is traditional with a contemporary twist.
Lindsey likes to create work that the viewer feels familiar with. In particular, she hopes to engage the viewer in a way that reminds them of the places they’ve been and the people they’ve met.

Egg Regrets by Alexis Harding | The Big Egg Hunt

Alexis Harding graduated from Goldsmiths College in 1995. Since then he has subjected painting to what he refers to as ‘a singular physical strain’. His work emerged as an antagonistic and unruly take on the process-painting movement of the 90’s and has developed into a wider practice that explores and celebrates the intersections between abstraction and representation.
In the past fifteen years, Alexis has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally, winning the prestigious John Moores Painting Prize in 2004. He has recently had solo exhibitions at Mummery+Schnelle, London and Two Rooms Gallery, New Zealand. Alexis lives and works in London.
Here’s what Alexis has to say about Egg Regrets:
“For a long time the egg just sat there in the studio, distracting me. It soon became like a type of sponge and a depository for the studio residue. Paint residue and paint skins that would fall off the paintings would end up on it and wrapped up rolls of masking tape, brushes, sieves, knee pads. And then it became a site to put things ‘in’, after I smashed it up and drilled holes in it! I was hoping I could change it and get it close to a Lucio Fontana egg. This failed and it’s become something else: it’s absurd and yet it feels like the objects and gutters I use to make the paintings, so it’s connected to the work. It taught me to be a bit free-er in the studio and it’s funny and sad at the same time.”
